Application for RC (Robot Competition) Proposal

The IROS 2022 Organizing Committee invites proposals for competitions to be held during IROS in Kyoto, Japan, in October 2022. The competitions provide a unique venue for state-of-the-art technical demonstrations from research labs, academia, and industry. Conference attendees and media representatives will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations of robotic technology via these competitions. Due to the pandemic situation of COVID-19, competitions in online style are also welcome.
Deadline of RC (Robot Competition) Proposal: Jan. 21, 2022
Proposals must include the following information:
- Title of the competition.
- A brief description of the competition, including style (onsite or online), what particular task(s), are under evaluation and why the competition is of interest to the IROS community.
- A draft of the rules and scoring system.
- Title and type of prices or grants.
- Time schedule for competition day(s).
- A list of possible/potential participants.
- Awards planning, including any financial plans.
- Request for the Organizing Committee for facilities, including
a) required space (area in square meters and minimum height),
b) energy, telecommunications network,
c) human resources needed,
d) any specific infrastructure you may need to do the competition. - Competition organizers’ names, contact information, and brief CVs of the competition organizers describing previous experiences in organizing competitions, workshops, etc.
All submissions will undergo a standard review process within the Competition Committee. Acceptance decisions will be based upon the potential significance, sustainability in IROS, and logistical requirements.

On-site Competition Schedule
Competition period: October 24th~26th, 2022.
Location: Kyoto International Convention Center, Kyoto, Japan
Other issues: The on-site competition set-up begins on Oct. 23th, 2022.
All equipment used in competitions must be removed by 5:00 pm on Oct. 26th (*1).
*1) The schedule for venue maintenance may change in the future due to operational reasons. Details of the schedule will be announced on the conference’s official webpage in time.
(*) The competition venue would be relocated by optimizing the space for all conference activities.
